Even though there are many ways in which you can learn how to root the Samsung Galaxy Tab GT-P1000, I will try to explain the easiest and safest ones of them. In due course of this tutorial we will be checking in how to root the GT-P1000 that runs the Android Froyo, or the Android Gingerbread OS. You have it all explained in a step by step procedure, so regardless to the version of the firmware, your tablet will now be opened for changes and improvements.
In order to make it clear, the present tutorial can be applied only for the Samsung Galaxy Tab GT-P1000, which is the first ever tablet computer released by the South Korea-based company; don’t try to do the same on other similar Android powered devices because you can wreck its internal system. As usual, the root process is making you void the warranty, so wrecking the device is the last thing you want to happen. Furthermore don’t do it by yourselves, always follow a how to guide like this one from here.
As you know, the GT-P1000 is not a high end tablet, its specs including a 1 GHz Cortex-A8 processor, 512 MB of RAM, 16 / 32 GB of internal storage memory, a 3.15 MP camera, a 7 inch TFT capacitive touchscreen and the Android OS, version 2.2 (Froyo) which can be upgradable to Gingerbread. The best part is that you can power up these performances by making optimization and customization operations. Gaining root access is one of these procedures, so completing the same is no longer an option for you.
Once you root the Samsung Galaxy Tab GT-P1000 its system will be unchained; you will be able to improve the speeds, overclock the system, improve the battery life, install custom recovery images, flash custom ROMs, or update the OS with beta and unofficial firmware. Not long ago, we have showed you how to update the Galaxy tab by installing the AOKP ICS Android 4.0 software, an update which can be applied only if your device is rooted. You can see where I’m going aren’t you? Anyway, the benefits that come with a rooted device are numerous.
As I mentioned in the introduction, this guide will be divided in three parts: the Froyo one, the Gingerbread 2.3 one and finally the Gingerbread 2.3.3 one. In each section you will have to use some apps which, in a few words, will do almost all the work for you. Now, let’s see what else you need to know and prepare before starting the proper step by step guide; just take a look over the list from below:
After completing the up mentioned you can start looking on the guide that suits your tablet. Apply the steps that are referring to the version of the Android OS that runs on your device. Read carefully, do as explained and in the end share the issues (if there are some) with us.
Root the Galaxy Tab GT-P1000 that runs Android 2.2 Froyo
Download the z4root tool from here and place it on the PC.
Connect the device with the computer and copy the app to your tablet.
Install the same.
If you can’t install it, you should download Astro File Manager or ES File Explorer on your Galaxy Tab. Both tools can be downloaded for free from Google Play.
Run the z4root software.
Just tap on “Permanent Root” and wait until the process ends.
Root the Galaxy Tab GT-P1000 that runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread
Uninstall, or disable the Firewall programs and the Kies Mini from the PC and from the tablet.
Unzip the file.
Connect the tablet with the computer by using its USB cord.
Just select the “Root” option.
Wait several minutes (5, or 10) until the process ends and disconnect the device from the PC.
Root the Galaxy Tab GT-P1000 that runs Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread
Download the DooMLoRD’s Easy Rooting Toolkit 4.0 app from here and save it on your computer.
Unzip the file.
Disable, uninstall Samsung Kies and Firewall programs from both, the PC and tablet.
Connect the Galaxy Tab GT-P1000 with the PC via USB cord.
Run the file named “runme.bat”.
Just follow the prompts displayed.
Then wait until the process is done.
Finally, you are now supposedly having a rooted Samsung Galaxy Tab GT-P1000. You can now safely go and update its OS to Ice Cream Sandwich or why not install a custom ROM into the system. Do tell us how things worked and if there were problems. Also, if you need help in any Android related topics share your thoughts with us and we will do our best in order to help you out.

Root, Flash Cwm And Install Cyanogenmod 10.1 On Samsung Galaxy Tab Gt
Last Updated on June 4, 2014
Here’s a quick tutorial to root, flash CWM recovery and install CyanogenMod 10.1 on Galaxy Tab GT-P1000 on android 4.2.2. Galaxy Tab P1000 is one of the first released tabs from Galaxy series and now there have been lots of new versions to this device such as Tab 7.1, Tab 10, 10.1 etc. Though it’s a first built device, this tab has been used by millions and lately I join the club.
Yesterday, one of my relatives approached me to install latest android 4.2.2 jelly bean on his Galaxy tab p1000 and I started to search for the rooting tools, recovery files and ROMs over various forums. But what I found is that most of those posts were truly imitating some authority tutorials and couldn’t find the complete tutorial.
If you are one of the desperate searchers, here’s the ultimate guide to root, recovery and install CM 10.1 on your galaxy tab. Here I shrink the 3 guides together for easy access. As usual, the first step is to root your Galaxy Tab P1000 running on Gingerbread and rest are flashing CWM recovery and flashing the ROM. Here we go.
Pre-Requisites
Rooting voids warranty and we’re not responsible for any malfunction that may happen to your device through this process. (Don’t worry, keep your side safe. We’ll take care further).
Backup all important data in your device memory such as contacts, images, etc.
Download Samsung Kies [Link] to install necessary drivers on your PC.
How to Root Samsung Galaxy Tab GT-P1000 Running on Froyo (android 2.2)
First of all, allow access to unknown apps from application settings
Now download and install Z4Root tool [Link]on your galaxy tab.
Now run it and choose “Permanent Root” option and hit enter. You’re done.
How to Root Samsung Galaxy Tab GT-P1000 Running on Gingerbread (Android 2.3.x)
Do the same as mentioned in first step above if you didn’t do it already.
Now download “DooMLoRD’s Easy Rooting Toolkit” [Link] on your computer. Extract it and connect your Tab to PC with USB cable.
Now under extracted folder, open “runme” file and wait until it detects and flashes your tab. Done.
Now you have rooted your Galaxy Tab P1000 in the easiest manner. There’s also another method to root your tab with the help of Odin and CF root file. But this method seems to be much easier than the latter . In the next step, you will be learning how to flash a custom recovery on your Galaxy Tab P1000. As usual, here we choose ClockWorkMod recovery and here it is.
How to Flash ClockWorkMod Recovery on Galaxy Tab P1000 – Recommended
Install ROM Manager app from play store [Link]
Open ROM Manager and choose “Flash ClockworkMod Recovery” option.
Just follow further instructions and now you have successfully flashed CWM recovery on your G Tab.
How to flash CWM Recovery on Galaxy Tab P1000 via Odin – Alternative Method
Download Odin [Link] and recovery flash-able tar file [Link] to your computer.
Now install Odin and make sure you have installed all necessary drivers for your tab on computer. Download links can be found at requisites section.
Switch off your device and enter your tab into Download Mode by pressing volume down key and power button simultaneously.
Check if Odin detects your tab. If done, you will get “added” message on the display box. Also the ID:COM section will turn yellow.
Make sure “Re-Partition” box is unchecked. Else your tab will be bricked for sure.
So far, you have rooted your Galaxy Tab GT-P1000 and flashed CWM recovery to install custom ROMS. It’s time to forget your stock ROM and get ready to accept CyanogenMod’s powerful custom ROM. See below to flash it.
How to Install CyanogenMod 10.1 on Galaxy Tab P1000
First download CM 10.1 ROM [Link] and GApps [Link] from here and copy to your tab’s device memory.
Now switch off your tab and enter into recovery mode by pressing Home Button+Volume Down+power buttons.
There, wipe all cache such as data, cache partition etc. Now choose install zip from sd card and choose the downloaded CM 10.1 ROM.
Do the same with GApps. (But don’t wipe cache).
After flashing both files, press “reboot system” and let it reboot.
You’re all done. Through this 3 in 1 ultimate guide, you have rooted, flashed CWM and even installed no.1 custom ROM CyanogenMod 10.1 on your Galaxy Tab. Note that the mentioned CM ROM is not a stable one and you may feel some bugs in it. As far as I tried, the bluetooth and USB tethering are not working in this last update. But use the latest update from the ROM list to reduce bugs.
